Gregory Porter at the Vienne Festival
Jazz90 min2022PG
Enter the world of two-time Grammy winner Gregory Porter, whose rich baritone and evocative lyrics have made him a vital force in contemporary jazz. Blending candid interviews and unreleased rehearsal footage with electrifying performances, this intimate documentary follows Porter on the road and in the studio. From Bakersfield church choirs to global acclaim, Porter’s journey is told in his own words and through luminaries including Van Morrison, Gilles Peterson, and Jamie Cullum. The camera captures his quiet charisma as vividly as his sound. The film concludes at Jazz à Vienne's ancient Théâtre Antique, where Porter's voice soars against Roman stone. A portrait as resonant as his music.
