Sir Antonio Pappano Conducts Bernstein & Copland

The London Symphony Orchestra brings together two powerful American symphonies for an emotionally impactful concert that explores faith, humanity, and hope in the face of darkness. Leonard Bernstein's "Kiddish Symphony," dedicated to the memory of President John F. Kennedy, is part symphony, part oratorio, and wholly theatrical. It's a bold musical dialogue with God, filled with anguish and affirmation. Dame Felicity Palmer gives a riveting performance as the Narrator, delivering what Bachtrack called a "haunting appeal to the 'Betrayed and rejected Ruler of the Universe'," while soprano Kathrina Konradi and the London Symphony Chorus answer with radiant power. Aaron Copland's Third Symphony, written as World War II drew to a close, offers a sweeping vision of renewal. Its final movement, built around the iconic "Fanfare for the Common Man," is a "frenzy of joy calculated to refresh the spirit and enliven the heart" (★★★★★ Bachtrack). Together, these two works create an unforgettable concert of emotion, uplift, and brilliant sound.
